Christmas has come early for some girls and moms… Including this one. When I first learned I was pregnant in 2013 one of my first thoughts amid all the excitement of learning I was having a girl was, “I couldn’t wait until I could take her to Chicago to the flagship 40,000 square store of American Girl.” And in November of 2013 (Zoie was only 4 months old) we journeyed back home to visit the store and buy her very first doll.
The national favorite girls doll store has opened a pop up store right in Portland, Oregon, and mom’s everywhere are elated! The store opened October 17, 2015 and will remain open through early 2016.
One of the reasons I love the store is because of their commitment to diversity and inclusion. In addition, according to their website, their goal has been to “create dolls and stories that act as both mirrors and windows—giving girls an opportunity to see a direct reflection of themselves or a chance to learn about a life or culture.”
American Girl’s dolls feature light, medium, and dark skin tones, as well as a variety of face molds, eye colors, hair styles and textures, plus hundreds of accessories and stories—helps girls highlight their individuality and special style. They make it easy for you to match your unique child with the perfect doll. What an awesome vision!
While the new pop-up store doen’t offer all the amenities of the Chicago girls store, the Portland store will offer a hair salon. If you want to give your little one a great first experience, take her to visit the store, you won’t regret it!
