Home Facial Remedies to Help Your Skin Glow | The Winter Cure

This is the time of year that we all start thinking about the summer months and preparing our bodies. We know that winter comes and goes and every woman is assured of having skin that doesn’t have any sunburns but then we are also missing essential Vitamin D  that comes from soaking up those sunray’s. The effect however of winter  for most of  us usually equals dry skin, paleness and peeling which equals unappealing in most of our books.  So before you invest hundreds of dollars in expensive spa treatments, try out these little home glowing remedies that bring out that natural beauty in glow in all of us.

To begin, I recommend trying these natural remedies  1 week and see the natural difference they can make.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil has been used for a number of remedies like teeth whitening,  hair food and also as a facial skincare product to bring about glowing skin. It can basically be used as moisturizer oil as other normal moisturizer do.  In our house, we use coconut oil for everything. Cooking, adding natural oils to the hair and of course healing properties for the skin.  Simply use of a few drops after cleansing  your face during the normal routine at night.  I usually dab a dime drop on my finger tips and in a circular motion massage into the skin. I will usually use this after I’ve moisturized.  Just like with the hair, using oils helps to seal all the other products

Milk

Milk is a natural glowing skincare product that has been used for centuries as one of the many skin liquids to help rejuvenate skin. The simple reason: it easily available and works really fast. By applying a few drops of milk to your face  you are assured of seeing results right away. My first experience with using milk all over the body and especially the face was during my visit to an all female bath house in Beaverton, Oregon called Jade Sauna.  I was a complete newbie to this whole experience. But I have to tell you, the relaxation and rejuvenation that comes from totally soaking your body in milk is simply heaven.  I soon began doing smaller steps of this at home simply on my face.  You can add a few drops of honey and sugar also to the mixture and make a mask for about 20 minutes before washing. You will see immediate change and glow over the course of the week.

Honey

If you research the history of honey you will be surprised to learn that it dates all the way back to the times of the Egyptians.  They made offerings of honey to their gods and they also used honey as embalming fluid and dressing for their soldiers during battle.  And of course everyone loves honey unless you have allergies (and if that’s the case i’m truly sorry.)  So what is it about honey? Well lets start with the fact that its sweet and will definitely bring about that inner glow you’ve been seeking this winter.  Also, in its raw form honey is also rich in nutrients like minerals, proteins, vitamins and enzymes.  Honey also minimizes scarring and is anti-inflammatory.

So how do you use this wonderful natural remedy?

Grab a small bowl and add 1-3 teaspoons of honey to it.  Place that bowl in another bowl containing hot water.  This will help to loosen the honey and make it softer. Simply apply honey (after cleansing the face with your normal routine) with a small brush all over the face and neck.  Let it sit for 15-25 minutes.  Be sure to wash the face thoroughly with your mild cleanser afterward to remove any remaining honey.

Because of its natural healing powers honey is also good for acne prone skin and helps to fight wrinkles due to aging.  It’s a good idea to do a honey treatment at least once per month.  Your skin will love you afterwards.
