Sedona, Arizona is one of the best winter getaways for moms to take their families. According to US News it is one of the most beautiful places in America and number 2 on their list. And our family got a chance to experience the grandor this past weekend.
One of the main reasons why Sedona is very attractive is because of the myriad of activities that a family can partake in, such as hiking, sightseeing, leisure and shopping.
Here are some tips to ensure that your family vacation in Sedona is unforgettable.
Where to Sleep
Sedona has plenty of hotels that are family friendly, even when one is on a limited budget. However, one of the best hotels that your family can sleep comfortably is the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa. The hotel is cheap, at only around $130. Their services are customer friendly, and their facilities are child-friendly. You can find a list of hotels on trip advisor. I am a proponent reading advice from other parents.
Where to Eat
A fall/winter vacation in Sedona would not be complete without sampling the various meals offered in the restaurants found there. The Indian Gardens Oak Creek Market provides a menu that a family would enjoy, with their sandwiches being the highlight. Additionally, the Red Rock café offers excellent meals that you and your family should sample. Both restaurants offer meals at pocket-friendly prices.
Where to Shop
While on vacation, shopping is necessary since it creates unforgettable family memories. That said, Sedona is not short of places where one can shop, with Tlaquepaque being the leading shopping place for vacationers. The Tlaquepaque resembles a Mexican village with stores selling local arts and crafts, and professional galleries. Also, there are plenty of fine dining restaurants for delicious meals after shopping and exploring the galleries.
Things to do
Visit the Out of Africa Wildlife Park
The Out of Africa Wildlife Park is one of the most popular attractions in Sedona. The Park is located about 30 minutes from Sedona. The park is so unique because of the dedication, respect, and care that are given to the wildlife found in the park. Also, the caretakers and owners of the wildlife are friendly and very informed. Children can be quite inquisitive, and if your kids fall into the category, then the caregivers will respond to any questions in a friendly, professional tone. Some of the animals found there include Lions, Giraffes, Zebras, and even tigers. A visit to the park will create unforgettable family memories.
Visit Red Rock Park
This was our destination point. We didn’t do much hiking because this was a day trip for us. But we defiantly took in the sights of the red rock you can’t go wrong no matter what turn you take. You are guaranteed to get beautiful views and awe struck landscapes. If you get lost visit one of the National park locations. They are full of information and maps.
